00:00:00.120 --> 00:00:04.850
I went to dental school,
graduated dental school in 1966.
00:00:04.880 --> 00:00:09.250
They started a tennis
club in Jackson in 1964.
00:00:09.280 --> 00:00:11.140
I wanted to have my office
00:00:11.170 --> 00:00:18.840
next door to the tennis courts,
and it only took me 35 years to do that.
00:00:24.000 --> 00:00:28.340
My dad was a dentist, and
I wanted to be like my dad.
00:00:28.370 --> 00:00:31.620
I knew that as a teenager.
00:00:31.640 --> 00:00:33.560
When I was a teenager, he asked me if I'd
00:00:33.590 --> 00:00:38.480
ever considered dentistry, and I said,
"No, I hadn't." He said, "Come work for me
00:00:38.500 --> 00:00:41.980
." So I started working for
him, and the rest is history.
00:00:42.010 --> 00:00:45.940
He showed me what a great career it was.
00:00:45.970 --> 00:00:50.100
After I graduated from dental
school, I went into the military.
00:00:50.130 --> 00:00:53.940
Three years in the military,
including Vietnam.
00:00:53.970 --> 00:00:55.780
I had an experience there.
00:00:55.810 --> 00:01:04.340
We were going through a lot of
desegregation and so forth in the '60s.
00:01:04.370 --> 00:01:11.850
I had three years in the military and
found out that all people are good.
00:01:11.880 --> 00:01:20.850
When I came back from the military,
that was the end of having separate
00:01:20.880 --> 00:01:25.780
reception rooms, bathrooms, water
fountains, and all of that.
00:01:25.810 --> 00:01:28.380
That was probably the
00:01:28.410 --> 00:01:33.380
biggest thing I did, was I said,
"That's the end of that for my life."
00:01:33.410 --> 00:01:38.100
I'm so fortunate to have always
been able to work with him.
00:01:38.130 --> 00:01:43.080
He's got such a great vision of taking
care of patients and excellence in
00:01:43.110 --> 00:01:48.850
dentistry that I've just always
been able to emulate him.
00:01:48.880 --> 00:01:51.520
That's enough.
Yeah, that was pretty good.
