Do you want straighter teeth? Are you turned off by the idea of traditional metal braces?

Consider Invisalign®, the innovative orthodontic system that allows you to correct misaligned teeth without the hassle of brackets of wires.

Find out why patients of Family Dental Care in Flowood, MS, love the freedom that comes with Invisalign treatment...

The Most Advanced Orthodontic Appliance to Date

Invisalign has changed how we think about straightening teeth. Rather than using uncomfortable and unsightly metal hardware to reposition your teeth, the Invisalign system uses a series of transparent plastic trays. At Family Dental Care in Flowood, MS, Dr. Jan O'Keefe Belote oversees Invisalign treatment and can create a personalized plan to help you achieve the beautiful, straighter smile you deserve.

Invisalign Provides Endless Benefits

Discreet Orthodontics

Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, making them a great choice for public speakers, people with customer-facing jobs, or those who simply don't like the look of traditional orthodontics. Since aligners aren't noticeable, patients don't need to feel insecure in social situations.

Comfortable Appliances

Patients who wear braces are always at risk of an unexpected poke from a wire or bracket. This can cause irritation and discomfort inside the mouth. In comparison, Invisalign clear aligners are smooth, simple, and pop on and off in seconds.

No Restricted Diet

Hungry and ready to eat? Patients with braces need to worry about what foods will damage their brackets, but with Invisalign, you can simply remove your clear aligners and enjoy your favorite sticky, crunchy, and gooey foods with no second thoughts.

Easy Maintenance

With Invisalign, it's easy to take care of your teeth and stay on top of your dental health. Remove your clear aligners when you're ready to brush and floss. Do these activities as you would regularly, and clean your aligners each time to prevent any issues. This is significantly easier than trying to maneuver floss around braces.

Boosted Confidence

Achieve straight teeth and a beautiful smile in around 12 months. Invisalign provides a new sense of control and freedom to straightening teeth, with a stunning smile at the end to prove it. Patients feel more confident and enjoy a higher quality of life without having to worry about how their teeth look.

The Ideal Candidate for Invisalign

While Invisalign sounds like the ideal orthodontic treatment, it is not for everyone. At your initial consultation at our Flowood office, Dr. O'Keefe Belote will review your dental needs, assess the condition of your smile, and discuss your concerns to determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option for you.

Mild or Moderate Cases

Invisalign treats mild or moderate malocclusion (improper bite), crowding, or gapped teeth. Dr. O'Keefe Belote may recommend traditional orthodontic treatment for patients with more extreme needs that Invisalign cannot address.

Good Oral Health

Patients need to be in good oral health before beginning treatment. We will need to address and treat any decay, infection, or gum disease before starting treatment. Along with a healthy mouth, patients must be able to care for their aligners on a daily basis.

Invisalign oral appliances are removable but must be worn at least 20 hours per day. You must be dedicated to wearing the aligners. This is essential, as failing to do so may result in more prolonged treatment. Patients should also take extra care to avoid losing their aligners.

No Teeth Grinding

Patients who suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding) may not be eligible for Invisalign because this habit can wear down the chewing surfaces of the aligners, interfering with your treatment. Dr. O'Keefe Belote will assess your case and recommend an alternative treatment, such as braces, if necessary.

You Can Have a Straight Smile

Each custom-made aligner moves your teeth slightly. Over time, your teeth will move into ideal position.

A Simple and Straightforward Treatment Process

Invisalign treatment typically takes 12 to 18 months to complete.

Dr. O'Keefe Belote will determine if Invisalign is right for you. We'll discuss your cosmetic goals and answer any questions or concerns you have. If you qualify for Invisalign, Dr. O'Keefe Belote will create a 3D model of your teeth by taking impressions, photographs, and digital x-rays. She will use this information to design your treatment and provide a preview of your expected results.

The models of your bite will be sent to an Invisalign lab where technicians will create your fully customized series of clear aligners. Once the aligners are complete, you will return to our Flowood office to make sure they comfortably fit over your teeth. We'll walk through your treatment plan and give you instructions on how to care for your aligners.

You will wear your aligners for at least 20 hours every day. You'll switch to a new set of aligners about every two weeks. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth into place with gentle pressure. During this period, you'll visit our Flowood dentist every six weeks so she can monitor your progress and make sure everything is going smoothly.

Invisalign treatment typically takes 12 to 18 months to complete. We're available to answer any questions during the process and will regularly check in with you. Once treatment is complete, you can celebrate a new, beautifully straight smile. You'll be given instructions on how to maintain your results.

To maintain your straight teeth and new smile, patients must wear their last set of clear aligners or a pair of retainers to sleep. This helps prevent any shifting or movement that may occur in the mouth, ensuring that your teeth stay where they are. It is vital to follow these instructions, as neglecting to do so may eventually require costly retreatment. Patients should also stay on top of their routine dental visits and practice good hygiene at home.
