Invisalign

Do you want straighter teeth? Are you turned off by the idea of wearing traditional metal braces?

Consider Invisalign®, the innovative orthodontic system that allows you to correct misaligned teeth without the hassle of brackets and wires.

For years, patients of Family Dental Care in Flowood have provided Jackson, MS, patients with transformative Invisalign treatment.

Invisalign Clear Aligners A Modern Orthodontic Approach

Invisalign has changed how we think about orthodontic care. Rather than using uncomfortable and unsightly metal hardware to reposition your teeth, the Invisalign system uses a series of transparent plastic trays. At Family Dental Care in Flowood, MS, serving the greater Jackson area, Dr. Jan O'Keefe Belote oversees orthodontic treatment with Invisalign. She can create a personalized treatment plan to help you achieve the beautiful, straighter smile you desire.

Almost 20 Million People Have Used Invisalign

At the end of 2023, Invisalign had been used to dramatically improve the smiles of more than 17 million people across the globe. Knowing how popular this treatment is can give you confidence that you are making the right choice.

Straighten Your Smile Discreetly With Invisalign

Dr. Claire Logan explains how Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear aligners to straighten teeth more comfortably and subtly than braces can. Both teens and adults can benefit from this modern orthodontic option. We can even create a digital model to show you what your newly aligned smile will look like at the end of treatment.

Invisalign Provides a Number of Benefits

Discreet Orthodontics

Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, making them a great choice for public speakers, people with customer-facing jobs, or those who simply don't like the look of traditional orthodontics. Since aligners aren't noticeable, patients don't need to feel insecure in social situations.

Comfortable Appliances

Patients who wear braces are always at risk of an unexpected poke from a wire or bracket. This can cause irritation and discomfort inside the mouth. In comparison, Invisalign clear aligners are smooth, simple, and pop on and off in seconds.

Unrestricted Diet

Hungry and ready to eat? Patients with braces need to worry about what foods will damage their brackets, but with Invisalign, you can simply remove your clear aligners and enjoy your favorite sticky, crunchy, and gooey foods with no second thoughts.

Easy Maintenance

With Invisalign, it's easy to take care of your teeth and stay on top of your dental health. Remove your clear aligners when you're ready to brush and floss. Do these activities as you would regularly, and clean your aligners each time to prevent any issues. This is significantly easier than trying to maneuver floss around braces.

Boosted Confidence

Achieve straight teeth and a beautiful smile in around 12 months. Invisalign provides a new sense of control and freedom to straighten your teeth, with a stunning smile at the end to prove it. Patients feel more confident and enjoy a higher quality of life without having to worry about how their teeth look.

Invisible Orthodontics See How Invisalign Works

Invisalign uses a series of transparent plastic trays to gradually shift your teeth into place. This treatment can be provided by orthodontists and dentists alike, which makes it a great option for patients who want to pursue smile-straightening treatment at their trusted local dental practice rather than with a specialist.

The Ideal Candidate for Invisalign

While Invisalign sounds like the ideal orthodontic treatment, it is not for everyone. During your initial consultation at our Flowood office, just east of Jackson, MS, Dr. O'Keefe Belote will review your dental needs, assess the condition of your smile, and discuss your concerns to determine if Invisalign is the right treatment option for you.

Mild or Moderate Cases

Invisalign treats mild or moderate malocclusion (improper bite), crowding, or gapped teeth. Dr. O'Keefe Belote may recommend traditional orthodontic treatment for patients with more extreme needs that Invisalign cannot address.

Good Oral Health

Patients need to be in good oral health before beginning treatment. We will need to address and treat any decay, infection, or gum disease before starting treatment. Along with a healthy mouth, patients must be able to care for their aligners on a daily basis.

Committed

Invisalign oral appliances are removable but must be worn at least 20 hours per day. You must be dedicated to wearing the aligners. This is essential, as failing to do so may result in more prolonged treatment. Patients should also take extra care to avoid losing their aligners.

No Teeth Grinding

Patients who suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding) may not be eligible for Invisalign because this habit can wear down the chewing surfaces of the aligners, interfering with your treatment. Dr. O'Keefe Belote will assess your case and recommend an alternative treatment, such as braces, if necessary.

Decay? No Problem. We Gently Remove Cavities

Removing cavities is a prerequisite for receiving Invisalign clear aligners. Many dentists use dental drills to remove cavities, leading to pain and causing dental anxiety in patients. Our practice prioritizes Jackson's needs by completing cavity removal with air abrasion–utilizing air to clear out tooth decay with as little discomfort as possible.

Invisalign Attachments Make Treatment Possible for More Patients

If you're concerned that Invisalign may not be right for you because of the amount of correction you need, you still have options. Many of our Mississippi patients can qualify for Invisalign thanks to Invisalign attachments.
invisalign attachments

Invisalign attachments are tooth-colored "bumps" of resin that are bonded to the front surfaces of the teeth. They give the aligner trays a firmer grip on the teeth, which in turn helps them provide additional force to achieve movement. Teeth that are rotated or otherwise affected by more complex misalignment can still be brought into proper position with Invisalign attachments.

If your orthodontic needs are especially complex, we also offer clear braces. These work much like traditional metal braces, but they use ceramic brackets and tooth-colored wires for a much more subtle look. When patients in Greater Jackson need orthodontic solutions, we can handle cases both simple and complex.

Consultation

Dr. O'Keefe Belote will determine if Invisalign is right for you. We'll discuss your cosmetic goals, Invisalign treatment costs, and answer any questions or concerns you have. If you qualify for Invisalign, Dr. O'Keefe Belote will create a 3D model of your teeth by taking impressions, photographs, and digital x-rays. She will use this information to design your treatment and provide a preview of your expected results.

Fabrication

The models of your bite will be sent to an Invisalign lab where technicians will create your fully customized series of clear aligners. Once the aligners are complete, you will return to our Flowood office to make sure they comfortably fit over your teeth. We'll walk through your treatment plan and give you instructions on how to care for your aligners.

Treatment

You will wear your aligners for at least 20 hours every day. You'll switch to a new set of aligners about every two weeks. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth into place with gentle pressure. During this period, you'll visit our Flowood dentist every six weeks so she can monitor your progress and make sure everything is going smoothly.

Invisalign Aftercare

To maintain your straight teeth and new smile, you must wear the last set of clear aligners or a pair of retainers to sleep. Retainers help prevent any shifting or movement that may occur in the mouth, ensuring that your teeth stay where they are. It is vital to follow these instructions, as neglecting to do so may eventually require costly retreatment. Patients should also stay on top of their routine dental visits and practice good dental hygiene at home, including cleaning their aligner trays and retainers each day.

How Much Does Invisalign Cost?

The average cost of Invisalign treatment is $3,000 to $5,000 at our Jackson-area dental practice. Because Invisalign is a truly personalized orthodontic treatment experience, costs vary per patient. Your final costs may influenced by factors like whether you required any preparatory dentistry and the length of your treatment plan.

We're pleased to tell you that many dental insurance plans will provide coverage for Invisalign. We accept most types of dental insurance, and our team will be happy to help you file a claim. If you are uninsured, we invite you to become a member of the Family Dental Care VIP program, which covers preventative dentistry and provides a 15% discount on all other dentistry for as low as $27 a month.

We also accept CareCredit®, a financing option that allows you to pay for treatment in manageable monthly installments.
