Instant Orthodontics Correct Your Smile Without Braces By Danny O'Keefe D.D.S. on November 20, 2012

Jackson Instant OrthodonticsDo you have gaps in-between your teeth? Are your teeth crowded or misaligned? Are your front teeth conspicuously out of place? Typically, orthodontic treatment is necessary to correct these dental flaws. Unfortunately, many people are hesitant to undergo orthodontic treatment because of the time requirement, impact it has on their eating habits and lifestyle, and fear of feeling self-conscious and dissatisfied with their orthodontic appliance. To satisfy these individuals’ needs, we are happy to offer our patients in Jackson instant orthodontics treatment. Eligible candidates can take advantage of the many benefits this treatment has to offer without being burdened by the time commitment or undesirable side effects of traditional orthodontic appliances. So how does the system work and who is eligible? Well, read further to find out the answers to these very questions.

Instant Orthodontics - An Attractive (and Convenient) Alternative to Traditional Braces

Instant orthodontics is not a type of orthodontics appliance at all. In fact, it refers to the treatment of slight malocclusion, unsightly gaps, and other minor cosmetic flaws with porcelain veneers. At our Jackson cosmetic dentistry practice, we are happy to offer our patients this option as it provides instant benefits with minimal risk. Veneers are wafer-thin shells manufactured from porcelain that are affixed to the surfaces of the front teeth with dental cement. These tooth-shaped prosthetics look completely natural, thanks to the translucent qualities of porcelain, and are durable - with proper maintenance, porcelain veneers can last a decade or longer. By placing porcelain veneers over affected teeth, we can mask cosmetic flaws and create a uniform, attractive smile, free of unsightly gaps, misalignment, crowding, or other minor aesthetic flaws.

To place porcelain veneers, a small amount of enamel will first be removed from the affected teeth. This provides room for the veneer, so that it can sit flush with surrounding teeth, and makes for suitable strata to which the veneer can be bonded. Once the affected teeth have been reshaped, an impression will be taken. With this impression, your porcelain veneers can be custom fabricated so that they are an exact match. Once the veneers have been fabricated, you will return to our office (during this time, you will wear temporary placeholders) to have them placed, positioned so that they provide an attractive and natural-looking smile, and bonded into place. And just like that, you’ll have a straight, uniform smile, without having to deal with traditional orthodontic appliances for 18 months.

Are You a Candidate for Instant Orthodontics?

We have been offering our patients in Jackson porcelain veneers for several years. If your teeth and gums are generally in good health, then you may be able to take advantage of this cosmetic option. Though an initial consultation will be required to discuss your goals, evaluate your oral health, and determine a treatment plan, if any of the below traits apply to you, you may make an ideal candidate for instant orthodontics.

  • Want to correct cosmetic flaws
  • Have unsightly gaps in-between teeth
  • Have slight crowding of the front teeth
  • Have teeth that are slightly misaligned
  • Have a smile that lacks uniformity

If you would like to rejuvenate your smile, correct cosmetic flaws, and do so without having to rely on traditional orthodontic appliances, we encourage you to contact the Dental Office of Dr. Danny O’Keefe today. We would be happy to speak with you.
